MadCap Flare

“Flare” by MadCap is a competing Help Authoring Tool to rival Adobe’s RoboHelp and is based in xHTML. Some of the major features that Flare has which RoboHelp does not include: completely open architecture, advanced topic/code editing which is viewable and can be synced at the same time, redacted text support, equation support and snippet conditions. The bottom line is that a Help Authoring Tool such as Flare could make a valuable weapon in the technical writer’s arsenal if mastered sufficiently enough.

Flare is used in the industry to create online help documents that runs on HTML platform. They are mostly used for creating context-sensitive help with applications.
